| Do you want to become more
involved? Meet new people? Know that you are making
a difference in your local community?
Current volunteer opportunities:
Highway Clean Up Project: HOBAS has
recently “adopted” a one mile
stretch of Pulaski Road, between Oakwood and
Woodbury Roads.
Each month we will be cleaning up the roadway, and
having fun while
doing it! Our first pick up day yielded about six
bags of trash...Lets
keep our roads beautiful!
Kestrel Nest Box Project: HOBAS is
involved in the Audubon NY project
to restore kestrels across New York State. We will
be installing boxes
at several locations within our territory.
Volunteers are needed
to help with the installation and the monitoring of
the boxes as we head
into breeding season. In conjunction with this, we
will be cleaning out
the bluebird/kestrel boxes that are already up at
Caumsett and need
volunteers for this.
Field Trip Leaders: We are always
on the look out for knowledgeable
and engaging field trip leaders. Please let us know
if you are interested
in leading a trip for us. It is a wonderful way to
meet new people, make
new friends and perhaps be the person who sparks the
next Kenn
Kaufman or David Sibley’s interest!
